Meet The Team

LilY Waite

Lily founded Queer Brewing in 2019, and, until late 2020, led the project on her own. She deals with the running and growing of the company, production, and all sorts of other bits and bobs. When not working on Queer Brewing, she works as an award-winning beer writer, photographer, and ceramicist.

charlotte Marsden

Charlotte is the first addition to the team. Charlotte’s background in design, coupled with a growing interest in everything beer, means she’s perfect for the role of helping grow Queer Brewing. She enjoys everything arts and crafts, and walking her and Lily’s dogs, Teddy and Pickle.

Beth Hill

Beth is our latest addition to the team, she comes with half a decade of brewery sales under her belt and is also an active member of the LGBTQ+ community. When she isn't in a taproom, pub, or at a drag show, you can find her at home watching a nature documentary and eating ramen.

Queer Brewing:

making queer beers and beer queer since 2019.

Queer Brewing is a queer- and trans-owned brewery whose aim is to increase visibility and representation for LGBTQ+ people through beer. We produce a range of styles, from our iconic Witbier through to delicious pales and IPAs, and everything in between.

Founded in 2019 as a collaboration-only project, Queer Brewing began with the aim of increasing visibility and representation for LGBTQ+ people in and around beer, using beer as a vehicle for change. We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for LGBTQ+ charities in numerous countries, by brewing collaborations all over the world with some incredible breweries.

Now, we produce our own beers too, from our core range of a much-loved Witbier, a Pilsner, a Pale Ale, and an IPA, and produce a range of monthly specials, from bitter and piney West Coast IPAs to big, bold Barleywines, and even a low-alcohol pale ale.

The Queer Brewing Project was founded in early 2019 to provide visibility for LGBTQ+ people in and around beer, and to build community, advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, and raise money for vital LGBTQ+ charities. After recognising a significant lack of LGBTQ+ community in the beer world, founder Lily Waite set out to change that, by working with first UK-based, and then international breweries to take up space in an industry dominated by cisgender, heterosexual, male voices.

Queer Brewing has since grown from a passion project into an empowering brand and entity in its own right. In the 4 years since the project began, we’ve brewed over 50 different collaboration beers in 5 countries—we’ve teamed up with breweries in Denmark, Germany, Norway, and the USA, as well as plenty at home in the UK—raising a projected £25,000 for a whole host of incredible charities. Lily’s even been dubbed an “LGBTQ icon”.

With each collaboration we do, we take a percentage of the sales and donate it to a LGBTQ+ charity of the collaborators choice.
So far, we’ve supported: MindOut; MicroRainbow; Gendered Intelligence; GALOP; People Like Us; The LGBT Foundation; The Trevor Project; The National Center For Transgender Equality; KC Anti-Violence Project; The Alexander Foundation; Inside Out Youth Services; The Rainbow Project; Motherwell Cheshire; Switchboard; Bloody Good Period; Snehalaya; UK Black Pride; LGBTQ Youth Scotland;
People's Pride Southampton;
We Exist London; the Intercom Trust; Black Trans Foundation; Reading Red Corner & The Drinks Trust.

We’re excited to be a growing organisation at this point. Queer Brewing’s workforce has tripled (...to three), we have our own core range of beers, a range of monthly specials and a bunch of super exciting collaborations with some great breweries.
